TripSpark Technologies is pleased to welcome Matt Behmer as our new General Manager effective June 3, 2024!
Matt brings a wealth of transit experience to TripSpark after 19 years of leading teams with our sister companies in the transit space Trapeze and Vontas. His most recent role was as VP of Operations at Vontas overseeing Professional Services, Customer Care, and Manufacturing with a team of ~85 employees.
Let’s learn more about Matt and what he brings to TripSpark:
TripSpark: What excites you the most about taking on the GM role at TripSpark?
Matt: I’m excited about the GM role and the opportunity to grow and innovate on the strong foundation TripSpark has built over the last ten-plus years. I enjoy the strategy and execution of solving problems, especially in the transit industry where we can see the impacts of our efforts in the lives of the people in our communities. I am very excited to be working alongside the strong leadership team and getting to know the rest of the TripSpark team and customers.
TripSpark: What are you hoping to achieve as GM in your first year?
Matt: In my first year as GM, simply put, I want to learn and support. I want to learn about our products, our people, our customers, our strengths, and opportunities for improvement. I want to support our business, our people, and leaders achieve the objectives established at the start of the year including, accelerating the roadmap, working with product and sales to drive more RFP and back to base sales, and executing on the strategy to protect our customer base. I am hoping to provide and share from my experience to support the TripSpark team.
TripSpark: How will your experience at Vontas and Trapeze influence you?
Matt: I have been fortunate to work in transit my entire professional career. I’ve been able to learn about transit and transit technology over the last nineteen years and have learned from great leaders along the way. My experience at Vontas and Trapeze has taught me the importance of strong leadership and talent development across the organization, the necessity of effective communication, and the value of collaboration (internally and with customers).
TripSpark: What is your personal approach to leadership?
Matt: My personal approach to leadership is centered around leading with intention, holding each other accountable, and having an open mind when it comes to learning. There isn’t a single person that has all the answers (and I’m certainly no exception!). I believe in a leadership style that fosters a culture that enables people to be comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas for the betterment of the organization, our people, and customers.
Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Matt and his wife Tara have three boys (ages 8, 11, & 15) which keep them super busy. In his free time, Matt enjoys being outdoors, whether coaching or supporting his three sons in baseball and other activities, an occasional round of golf, or skiing (not in Iowa, lol!). He is a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Please join us in welcoming Matt to TripSpark!
